VALENCIA, SPAINRESIDENTIAL PROJECT 2025
Threshold as an Act of Transformation

It is not a fixed boundary, but a passage that leads us from the known to the uncertain, from the public to the intimate, from clarity to shadow. Each time we cross it, we leave behind one way of being and enter another, charged with new perceptions and emotions.

What if the threshold were the place where space reaches its greatest intensity? There the hidden confronts the revealed, what is left behind meets what is yet to come. In that moment, dwelling becomes experience, reminding us that architecture lives in passages, in transitions that transform us as much as we transform them.

A renovation in the center of Valencia, this two-story apartment is organized around a single gesture: a vertical wall of tinted okoume wood. Acting as a threshold, it conceals the private rooms while linking the two levels, becoming the backbone of the project; a continuous element that orders, relates, and defines the interior.
Around this central presence, the space unfolds: a continuous blue floor, neutral white planes, and a precise selection of materials that respond to the clients’ wish for a home that is playful yet serene. The result is an interior in which a single defining element gives both identity and coherence to the whole.
